With the first section of this essay, the author reviews the contributions of some of the most important Italian scholars who interpreted the question of contradiction in Hegel, from the second half of the twentieth century to nowadays. The author begins by summarizing Della Volpe’s and Colletti’s interpretations. From a materialistic point of view, inspired by young Marx’s critiques to Hegel, these authors supported the irreducibility of the “rational” opposition (a really contradictory unity in which opposites are included) to the “real” one (in which the opposites, determined by the principle of non-contradiction, remain separate). Wide space is then given to the contributions of those authors who attempted a genetic reconstruction of Hegel’s philosophy, with particular attention to the problem of contradiction. Discussed are the positions of Merker and Rossi (inspired by Della Volpe’s lesson), as well as the recent works of Varnier, Raspa and Biscuso.

The paper raises some of the foundamental issues of Machiavelli’s thought, focusing on the challenge that this thought issued to ethics. Consisting of three parts, the paper starts with an inquiry into the misfortune of Machiavelli: as Sasso argues, this does not depend merely on the effects that Il principe, both illuminating and blinding masterpiece, causes on Machiavelli’s work, but rather on the anti-christian character of Machiavelli’s thought. In the second part, Sasso tries to establish the connection between human wickedness, necessity and decline of states. Last but not least, Sasso deals with moral heteronomy in Machiavelli and asserts the impossibility to guarantee the autonomy of morality.

La presente bibliografia costituisce un’integrazione ed un aggiornamento della versione pubblicata nel volume Scaravelli pensatore europeo, a cura di M. Biscuso e G. Gembillo, Soveria Mannelli 2003. Il sito Filosofia-italiana.net è stata l’occasione per poter migliorare un utile strumento per gli studiosi che si rivolgono al pensiero del filosofo fiorentino. Fino ad ora le bibliografie di riferimento sull’opera e la fortuna di Scaravelli, oltre a quella citata del 2003, sono sostanzialmente tre. La prima è stata redatta da Marco Meschini (Nota bibliografica delle opere di e su Luigi Scaravelli, «La Nottola», V, 1986, 3, pp. 132-137). La seconda, curata da Franco Ottonello, è presente nel suo volume Luigi Scaravelli. La malattia dell’identità, L.U. Japadre, L’Aquila 1988, pp. 145-148. La terza, e più completa, è quella di Maria Bruno (Nota biobibliografica, «Filosofia», XLVI, 1995, I-II, pp. 131-168).
